Our first one was with friends in the state where our son was born! lol. The first one at home was the weekend after we arrived home, so our son was 4 weeks old. We NEEDED it to be right after we arrived because he was a baby born so I literally had NOTHING when I left to get him in TX :-) I bought a carseat, some bottles, some onesies and sleepers, and a pack n' play while in TX but otherwise we didn't have a thing. No stroller, very few clothes, only the blankets the hospital gave and one pack of receiving blankets I bought, no swing, etc. So for us having the shower right away was important. Also I knew everyone would want to meet him right away, so I figured we might as well get it over all in one day instead of having a few people dropping by every day for weeks.Of course this was in May, not in the heart of cold and flu season, so if he had been born in January and spent the same week in the NICU, I wouldn't have wanted all of those people around.

With our second son, who was born at the end of January, we waited about a month after we got home, so he was 6 weeks old, and we had a "sip n' see" open house where people could come meet him but weren't expected to bring gifts.

1/29/2010: Welcome, baby boy!
1/31/2010: Nico joins our family!
