Can we convince you that there really is such a thing as the right beer for certain types of food? A perfectly matched food-beer pairing can turn a meal from ?good? to ?absolutely delicious!? So venture out from your regular go-to beer brand and explore this scale ranging from light to dark brews.
1. Pilsners ? Light, clean, palate-cleansing?this is the ultimate choice for tailgating and the like. What with indulging on some burgers and hotdogs you can easily toss back as many of these as you desire while cheering on your team! Try: Pabst Blue Ribbon (PBR)
2. Tripels ? Another pale lager yet a bit more complex with notes of fruits, herbs, and spices. This type of beer is notoriously alcoholic and bold enough to easily complement intense, exotic flavors wonderfully. Thai food anyone?
Try: Samuel Adams New World Tripel
3. White Beers ? It?s okay if you?re not too familiar with white beers. They?re great for these warm summer months due to their thirst-quenching, crisper appeal. Pair with some light rolls of sushi and you?ll be full, but not stuck with that overly stuffed feeling. Try: Sapporo Creamy White
4. India Pales Ales ? Mmm IPAs! If you?ve never tried one of these, we strongly suggest it! Brace yourself for a sharp, bitter taste that goes excellent with spicy foods. Forget water ? the strong hops kick is just right for putting out the fire in your mouth. Try: Up the Creek Extreme IPA*
5. Fruit Lambics ? Fear not of fruit beer! Such a brew is pleasantly tart and even pretty refreshing! Want some impressive decadence? Drink one with any type of chocolate food and you?re sure to agree with us. We?re thinking a slice of chocolate cheesecake would pair fantastically. Try: Sweetwater Blue
6. Brown Ales ? Smooth is what you?ll find with a classic brown ale. Typically with plenty of body, one of these can complement any hearty steak. A surefire way to turn dinner up a notch. Sounds good to us! Try: Bald Eagle Brown Ale*

7. Porters ? Similar to brown ales in that this type of beer pairs well with anything straight off the grill. Dubbed the ?barbeque beer?, porters are sure to please with the flavors of long-roasted malts and subtle smokiness. Try: Stone Smoked Porter
8. Stouts ? Last but not least on our pairing spectrum, these dark beers are usually made with hints chocolate and coffee. Your best food pairing option is definitely dessert. No need to even drink this heavy beer! Pour over vanilla ice cream for an adult version of the root beer float. Try: Guinness Extra Stout
*Local breweries of Upstate South Carolina. We love serving their creations! IPA made by Thomas Creek Brewery and Brown Ale made by RJ Rockers Brewery.
