Yorktown Filmmaker's Movie Gets Picked up by International Company

Yorktown resident Gary Ploski is truly a rising star.?

The?theatre and film actor, technologist, blogger and a web series creator?has won several awards and now has another honor to add to the list.?

His?80-minute independent feature film?Rising Star?has been picked up by an international company,?Content Media Corp., which will handle the sales of the romantic comedy/drama film and?kick off pre-sales in Berlin.

"It's a very big deal that a small indie film like ours was picked up by them," Ploski told Patch. "Generally a first time indie film does not go anywhere except to friends and family or today onto YouTube or Vimeo like sites. Distribution supported by a company is a dream for the next project and often the project after that as well."

Ploski and?Emily Morse star Rising Star, which is about overworked insurance adjuster who must choose between his job and his passion after he accidentally meets his online love interest.

Ploski plays Chris, the insurance adjuster, and Morse plays Alyza, a carefree opposite who writes poems, counts beats and lets the bills pile. The two couldn?t be further apart on what is and isn?t important in life. But after 24 hours together, they both learn a thing or two each other, themselves, and their passions.

The film is also about living carefree, finding your bliss and feeding your passions, Ploski said. It?s also about drowning in fear and anxiety, but also letting nature take its course and letting opposites attract to create balance, according to a summary of the film.

Marty Lang wrote the screenplay and makes his feature directorial debut. The cast includes Michael Barra, Greg Nutcher, Luz Ramos, Julia Frisoli and Gary Craig.

Rising Star premiered at the Seattle True Independent Film Festival in May last year where it?won best premiere and best on-screen romance awards.

Content Media Corp. is working on distribution for the film in the USA via video on demand, online access, and retail stores though details on that is not yet available, Ploski said.
